Meanwhile, he is heading towards four hundred matches in professional football. Some of these he did under the crossbar at the Phillips Stadium, as Remko Pasveer was a PSV player from 2014 to 2017. This Sunday, however, he will defend the goal of Vitesse when they visit Phillips Stadium.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper looks back on his time at PSV with a good feeling. "Despite not having played much it was a very nice time. I made a lot of friends in Eindhoven and I'm still in touch with them. PSV suits my character tremendously well. It's a family club, I loved that warm atmosphere."

Apart from the fact that Pasveer had a good time at PSV, it was also a successful period sport wise. "We became champions twice and survived the group stage of the Champions League. We had a good selection. Only I didn't get to play much, so after three years I wanted to make a new start somewhere. Vitesse contacted me so I went for my chance in Arnhem."

Vitesse is having a very strong season. The team was even in second place for a long time. However, the last four games were not won, but Pasveer hopes to change that on Sunday. "I grant PSV everything, but on the field I am a top sportsman and I always want to win. I think precisely a top club is a good opponent for us now. Such a match demands more from you as a team and can help us get over the deadlock."

Vitesse is also doing creditably in the cup. It has qualified for the semifinals and will take on VVV-Venlo at home on March 2. Pasveer maintains that grabbing a tangible prize this season would be ultimate, but if he had to choose between the cup or the second place he does not hesitate for long. "Catching a prize is just super nice for Vitesse. Only second place entitles you to the preliminary rounds of the Champions League. That is sporting and financially very interesting of course. So if I had to choose I would still go for second place."

Pasveer always looks forward to the reunion with PSV, "they are always beautiful matches." Still, he will have to look carefully for familiar faces: Only Rosario and Marco van Ginkel were in the selection with him. "Pablo was just up against the first at the time. Jorrit Hendrix was also there, of course, but he just went to Spartak Moscow. Also the staff is completely different, even Mart van den Heuvel now fulfills a different role, with Mart I still have contact. The material man and the Physiotherapist are still there, with them I can catch up nicely."

Whether we will ever see Pasveer back at PSV again he dare not say. "If my body allows it, I will be under the crossbar for a few more years. After that I want a rest after so many years of top sport. Although I expect it will soon itch again. Maybe I'll become a goalkeeper coach or something like that. I've always enjoyed myself in Eindhoven. Who knows."
