Ajax - PSV was a match with two faces. What seemed to be a fairly clear defeat based on the first, was almost turned into a draw and thus extension after halftime. Denzel Dumfries came very close to making it 2-2 in the final minute. Even standout Mohamed Ihattaren saw that. 'He didn't fall,' Ihattaren said.
The nearly 19-year-old midfielder played a strong game. Before halftime, Ihattaren held balls to get out from under Ajax's pressure and in the second half he was at the base of many PSV attacks. "The first 35 minutes of the match we were less sharp than Ajax. They scored twice and were stronger in the duels."
In those moments, you have to play football thought Ihatteren. "That's what I come here for. Not to play backwards. In games like this you have to be there as a team. After halftime we dared to do that more, but that has to become normal. We have to go full steam ahead for two halves. Ajax showed on the pitch that they wanted to go forward. Not that we didn't want that, but we didn't show it before halftime."
