Mark van Bommel was relieved afterwards that PSV pulled off a win over FC Groningen. "Until the 2-1 it was very good. After that we survived," the head coach said at the press conference.

Suddenly lost
Van Bommel still saw PSV play very well in the first half. The first 35 minutes were the best the head coach saw from his team in a long time. "Up until the 2-0 we play well. After that we get quite a few chances. And then suddenly you lose it," Van Bommel observed. "We got out of our rhythm and have to be happy we still won in the end. We tried to regain our grip on the game, but it just didn't work. These kinds of games are sometimes part of it."

Lozano
A bummer was not just the play in the second half. Hirving Lozano was lying dead on the pitch after a collision shortly before halftime and had to be carried by stretcher to the catacombs. The striker was hit on the temple by opponent Handwerker. "It didn't look good," Van Bommel thought. "I don't know exactly what the diagnosis was. He is being examined now. I can't say more about it yet."

Pereiro
The head coach had made room in his starting lineup for Gastón Pereiro. The Uruguayan shuttled back and forth between bench and base a bit over the past month, but excelled Saturday night, including a fine assist. "That's Gastón's quality. We thought with him tonight we had the best chance of winning."
