Hendrix: 'We showed some nice again'

PSV ended the first half of the season with a victory against PEC Zwolle. Much has been written about the match in the media. We list the most important reports.

'Ihattaren one of our country's greatest promises '
The match won against PEC Zwolle featured a host of fine goals. Mohamed Ihattaren scored an unparalleled goal by curling the ball into the far corner from distance. At the Eindhovens Dagblad they speak highly of the midfielder. "Above all, Ihattaren is one of the greatest talents our country has had in recent years and the main reason why the history books about PSV in 2019 later are not written for nothing," writes Rik Elfrink. "At a page about Ihattaren no one will just flip through and now it is all hands on deck at PSV to make him shine in the books about the next few years as well."

'We showed something nice again '
PSV was about five minutes behind against PEC Zwolle. Then it was Jorrit Hendrix who combined beautifully with Steven Bergwijn to shoot in the equalizer. "I already had the feeling the last few days that we were going to win this one. Then you fall behind and that's difficult. But we turned our backs and showed something nice again," Hendrix told Voetbal International. The midfielder was also appreciative of his teammates' goals: "They were nice goals. That perhaps also says something about the second half of the season. That we finished it like this and can take this with us."

'Nice to go into the vacations like this '
In front of the cameras of FOX Sports, Cody Gakpo was asked which goal was more beautiful. His or Ihattaren's. "Mine of course," he says with a smile. He explains how his goal came about. "I had to pass a little more people than Mo. Watch. One, two, three. That was pretty nice in my opinion." It was not an easy week for PSV. The striker is therefore happy that the winter break is just around the corner: "It's nice to go into the vacations like this, we're all happy with that."

'It was a good game from us '
It was PEC Zwolle that opened the scoring during the match. This was due to a 'miscommunication' in the defense, Lars Unnerstall told the Eindhovens Dagblad. How it came about he cannot explain: "I don't know how it came about either, we are all German at the back. Can happen, but I think it's good that we don't get nervous and just keep playing football." PSV recovered after the deficit and scored four goals. So the goalkeeper can go into the winter break with a good feeling: "We came behind 0-1 but it was otherwise a good game from us. We had a lot of chances and also finished."

PSV Amputation team played two-a-side against Everton
The PSV Amputation team played a duel against Everton's amputation football players last weekend. Unfortunately, both games were lost. Coach Harm Oppers is nonetheless pleased with the experience. "It is an important experience for us. Indeed, we need matches." For player Wesley van Ingen, amputation football is a godsend. As a teenager he was scouted for a number of professional clubs, but due to a bone tumor in his right leg, playing football was no longer possible. "Very aggressive, it ate my bone and despite heavy chemotherapy it soon became clear that an amputation above the knee was inevitable. But I was always positive and continued to believe in possibilities."
