Jorrit Hendrix was at the center of the discussion of the day on Sunday afternoon. The PSV midfielder was walked in the back in the final minute and was awarded a penalty kick by referee Bas Nijhuis. VAR Danny Makkelie revoked that decision and not everyone agreed. 'I think there have been more times when a penalty is given for this,' Hendrix himself said.
The midfielder wore the captain's armband in the absence of Denzel Dumfries and Pablo Rosario and thus was almost partly responsible for a point for PSV. "I don't have eyes in my back so I don't know exactly what happened," Hendrix responded when asked what exactly happened in injury time of the second half. "I'm not someone who makes schwalbes, but being walked in the back. He can give it, he can't give it. I think there have been more times when a penalty is given for this."
PSV was already trailing 2-1 against Vitesse at that point. The Arnhemmers were the better of PSV before halftime, but had to go back in the second half. From a sparse breakout, the home team still scored the winning goal. "It happens to us too often that we get unnecessary goals against," Hendrix said.
