PSV brightened up their second Easter Day with a deserved 5-1 victory over FC Oss. Coach Dennis Haar's pledges recorded their seventeenth win of the season thanks to fine goals, taking their point total to 57. Donyell Malen was the big man with a hat trick.
Early opening goal, Koopmans converts penalty kick
At a well-filled De Herdgang sports complex, the number four of the Jupiler League took the initiative from the first whistle. Already in the opening minutes over 700 spectators saw Sam Lammers and Donyell Malen looming threateningly in front of goal, but eventually it took 15 minutes until the dominance was expressed in the score. Malen was the terminus of a smooth Young PSV attack, which ran through Cody Gakpo and Lammers. The latter set Malen free in front of goalkeeper Mous, who was beaten with a controlled slide: 1-0. That that score was still on the board after 25 minutes had everything to do with the goalkeeping of Luuk Koopmans. Shortly after the opening goal, the keeper turned away a shot from distance and not much later he took a convincing penalty kick. Only after a Sunday shot by Van der Venne did Koopmans capitulate: 1-1.
Psv U21 runs out quickly
Young PSV nevertheless rested with a lead. After Malen accelerated and Laros Duarte played back, Albert Gudmundsson enabled Lammers to head in the 2-1 five minutes before halftime. With a hard shot into the right corner, Gakpo lifted the score to 3-1 just one minute and thirty seconds into the second half. Via Malen, the pledges made it 4-1 after another beautiful attack over several sections, and the same Malen completed his hat-trick five minutes before time by tapping in a rebound: 5-1.
