For a while, Young PSV was in the race with FC Emmen for the third period title. Today the promise made things very difficult for the Emmen players for a while. However, the relegationist is deadly effective in finishing and so Young PSV is left empty-handed.
Talent Award
Not PSV Campus de Herdgang, but the Jan Louwers stadium was today the home of Young PSV. Beforehand, Johan Bakayoko received the third-period talent award. This put him in a nice list of names, with players like Cody Gakpo and Donyell Malen. There was no time to enjoy, as the ball started rolling a few minutes later. The first big chance came from the feet of Mohamed Nassoh after just one minute of play. He shot just wide. Young PSV made it pretty difficult for the number two of the league and forced a lead after fifteen minutes. Simon Colyn tapped the ball in after an accurate cross from Mohamed Nassoh. After that, Bakayoko and Oppegård both almost doubled the lead. Yet it was FC Emmen that scored the second goal of the match.
Effective Emmen
After halftime, the visitors got off to a quick start. After less than a minute of play they took the lead. Young PSV tried to put pressure on the opponent again, but it did not yet create the chances it had created so many in the first half. With a very good defensive move, Nathan Markelo kept his team on their feet and the points in sight. However, that was only for a moment, because in the 75th minute FC Emmen made it 1-3. Young PSV pressed on and forced the visitors back into their own sixteen. There were chances, but the tying goal did not materialize. And so the promise remained empty-handed.
