PSV starts the Europa League group stage with a 2-2 draw. Not an optimal start, according to Roger Schmidt. Nevertheless, the Head Coach has the necessary compliments for his team's fighting spirit. Together with Philipp Max, he looks back on the match.

Connection
"We have to live with it. We did everything until the last second to get the win. I'm not completely disappointed because I saw a lot of good things. We grabbed our moments, but with the goals against we weren't connecting well," Schmidt reflected. "We knew there would be a good team. They played the way we anticipated: defensively with a lot of players behind the ball. We were well organized and tried to take them back but unfortunately we didn't get beyond a draw."

Tried everything
"Disappointed," is how Philipp Max describes his feeling after the match. There was more in it according to the left back: "We played a good game. The first half hour was top. Then we gave up two goals too easily. In the second half we tried everything to turn the game our way. We made the 2-2, we had moments to make the 3-2 but it didn't come. That's why we are disappointed. Still, we see improvements from last year. We showed well against a top team. I think we were better."

Feyenoord
The next big game is already on the schedule next Sunday. Then PSV will play against Feyenoord. PSV has had many tough duels in a short time. A challenge for the team, Schmidt said, "We have shown in the past that we can play many good games in a short time, but it is not easy. We have to recover well and see which players are fit enough to be there again."
