For the last game of 2021, Young PSV traveled to IJmuiden for the match against Telstar. Earlier this season it had lost 3-2 to them, so it was out for revenge. However, a game full of chances ended up without fireworks.
Chance-rich first half
Only after seventeen minutes was the first shot on goal. Maxime Delanghe reached out and kept the score level. After this, Young PSV went in search of goals. Twice it became dangerous from the corner. A third time it was Johan Bakayoko who intercepted a ball and tested the goalkeeper, without result. Then, when the home team's defense was again asleep, Simon Colyn had one more ultimate chance to go into halftime with a lead. However, the scoreboard remained unchanged.
Stormy final phase
After halftime, it was the home team that got off to a better start. Once again it was Delanghe who kept the team on their feet with clever saves. And he would do so several more times towards the end of the match. It took until the 80th minute before things really started to storm in IJmuiden. There were still life-sized chances for Johan Bakayoko, but this time the top scorer of Young PSV did not manage to pass the goalkeeper. If the competition fails to win, Young PSV will finish the year in eleventh place in the league table.
