Young PSV recorded a handsome and spacious victory over frontrunner Go Ahead Eagles on Monday night. Dennis Haar's team was from the first moment the boss in the Jan Louwers Stadium. Partly due to some beautiful attacks and a hat trick by Cody Gakpo it became 5-1.

Attackers excel
Young PSV did not seem to be bothered for a second by the dark clouds gathering over the stadium. Already after five minutes of play, Joël Piroe hit the crossbar. Young PSV did not seem to be impressed by frontrunner Go Ahead Eagles after that either. The promising team took the lead after nineteen minutes of play through Cody Gakpo on a pass from Piroe. That duo managed to find each other well more often in the first half, but in the end it was Zakaria Aboukhlal who became the man of the first 45 minutes. Five minutes before halftime, the 18-year-old striker made it 2-0 with an unparalleled goal. The technician controlled the ball on the turn from the air and finished in a controlled manner. Four minutes later, his action was the basis for Ramon Lundqvist's 3-0, which set the halftime score.

Hat-trick Gakpo
With less than forty seconds on the clock in the second half, an attempt by Piroe hit the woodwork for the second time. Through Werkhoven Go Ahead then did something back, but through Gakpo again Young PSV immediately widened the margin again: 4-1. The striker scored his fifth and sixth league goal. The match was then calmly controlled and PSV did not get into trouble for a moment against the team that still played in the Eredivisie in 2017. Seven minutes before time, Gakpo completed the celebration. The left winger scored his third goal of the evening. The only thing Young PSV could blame themselves for was that it remained 'only' 5-1, because after Piroe, Duarte also hit the post. With the win the team passed N.E.C. on the league table. Young PSV is now eighth.
