Every week Gracenote finds out all about the matches PSV plays. PSV takes on Fortuna Sittard on Sunday afternoon in an away game. The Limburgers changed coaches in December; since then, they have picked up as many points as PSV.
Equal pace
Despite losing to FC Groningen last weekend (0-1), Fortuna have, since Sjors Ultee's appointment on Dec. 2 as coach, taken as many points as PSV (28). That puts them in partial third place below AZ (32) and Ajax (30).
Back
PSV has won all four games since Fortuna returned to the Eredivisie. In those, it gave up only one goal and scored 14 of its own. The goal against fell on Aug. 18, 2018. Dante Rigo then made the winning goal for PSV (1-2) in Sittard in the 90th minute. Earlier this season, PSV won 2-0 in Eindhoven. Donyell Malen and Noni Madueke were goalscorers on Oct. 4, and Eran Zahavi made his debut.
Eran Zahavi
The latter scored last weekend for the second time in the Eredivisie from a direct free kick. He is the first to do so for PSV since Memphis. Memphis once made five in a season. Zahavi's total now stands at seven and with that he almost holds a record: never before has an Israeli player scored eight or more goals in one Eredivisie season.
Goalkeeper problem
Fortuna Sittard may be forced to use their fourth goalkeeper of the season. With former PSV player Yanick van Osch they had a steady value under the bar, but he has been injured since Feb. 20. Reserve goalkeeper Alexei Koselev met the same fate and even emergency goalkeeper Piet Velthuizen was out injured.
