Psv U21 started the fourth period with a scoreless draw. On the hard-to-play field in Sittard, the few chances the match counted did not yield goals.
Few highlights
In a first half without too many highlights, neither team could make a mark on the match picture. Fortuna Sittard and Young PSV did try, but suffered too much and too often unnecessary ball loss to be dangerous. Of the 22 players on the pitch, only Dante Rigo and Kenneth Paal created any goal threat in the first half. However, the Belgian's shot went wide, while Paal's shot was too soft to surprise the home side's goalkeeper Miguel Santos in the near corner.
Post still close
That no goals could therefore be found on the scoreboard at halftime was not very surprising. The opening phase of the second half brought more excitement. Particularly thanks to Fortuna emerging dangerously in front of Yanick van Osch on a number of occasions. However, despite the little danger in the first 45 minutes, the goalkeeper kept his wits about him and prevented Young PSV from going behind. Pascal Jansen's promising team did not create another chance until the closing stages. Joël Piroe played Kenneth Paal free, but Paal placed the ball just wide of the goal. The draw meant that Young PSV lost their first points since the away match against FC Emmen on Jan. 27.
