Young PSV lost 3-0 to leaders FC Volendam in Volendam on Friday night. Bert Steltenpool scored all three goals for the home team.
Steltenpool twice before halftime
At the KRAS Stadion Steven Bergwijn made his appearance in the Psv U21 team. The initial phase was scanning from both sides, only after more than ten minutes there was the first opportunity for the home team that managed to put Jack Tuyp in position via a counter. However, the FC Volendam player could not get the ball past Jesse Bertrams. Five minutes later the first opportunity for Young PSV seemed to present itself, but Olivier Rommens saw a fine solo in the sixteen meters strand. The same Rommens shot the ball just over the goal in the 26th minute, after a nice combination with Moussa Sanoh and Sam Lammers. In the counterattack, however, it did hit the mark. Bert Steltenpool tried his luck with a shot from just outside the penalty area and the ball went in via the inside of the post: 1-0. Before half-time it was also 2-0, this time Steltenpool appeared in a free position at the far post after a free kick. Bertrams saved his first effort, but was unable to save the rebound.
Third goal Steltenpool decisive
With two fresh forces in the team, Boris Cmiljanic replacing Sanoh and Sander Heesakkers replacing Jurich Carolina, Pascal Jansen's team started the second half hopeful. In the 49th minute, it was captain Clint Leemans who saw his free kick go over the goal via the crossbar, but just as before halftime, the switch moment earned PSV's pledges a goal. Steltenpool simply turned away from Suently Alberto and shot the ball into the short corner: 3-0. Despite the fact that the spaces became larger in the last twenty minutes, Young PSV could not really make use of them. The best opportunities remained for the home team. Fifteen minutes before time, Hjötur Hermannsson replaced the slightly injured Jordy de Wijs. No goals were scored and so the game ended, just like the preparation, in a 3-0 victory for FC Volendam.
