Last Sunday, PSV played a 2-2 draw against FC Utrecht. After trailing 2-0, Mark van Bommel's team came back and took a point back to Eindhoven. Below you can read some facts about the match.
Luuk de Jong rises on top scorer list
Luuk de Jong was very important for the team. With his two goals, he passed René van de Kerkhof on PSV's top scorer list. De Jong is now in eighth place and needs four more goals to pass Wim Kieft. De Jong also made his 20th of this season. Over the past two seasons, De Jong made a total of twenty. The last PSV player to score at least 20 goals after 21 rounds of play was Mateja Kezman in the 2002-2003 season.
Last quarter
Many of PSV's goals are scored only in the last quarter. Thus, PSV already scored 23 goals in the closing stages of the game. With that, PSV leads the list. At number two is Ajax with eighteen goals in the last quarter.
Trailing
It doesn't happen often this season for PSV to fall behind. Only four times was Van Bommel's team behind this season. That happened against FC Groningen, AZ, Feyenoord and last weekend against FC Utrecht. In the end, PSV took the three points against FC Groningen and AZ. Only against Feyenoord the deficit was not eliminated.
First point for Utrecht
It has been a long time since FC Utrecht took a point against PSV. After twelve defeats in a row against PSV, the Domstadelingen managed to take a point again for the first time since 2012. Back then, it was 1-0 for FC Utrecht through a goal by Dave Bulthuis. Moreover, this is the first point for Utrecht in 2019.
