PSV's long string of consecutive wins over Willem II came to an end on Saturday night. On a cold winter's evening Phillip Cocu's team stuck at 2-2 despite an early lead. Because rival Ajax managed to win, the gap to the leaders from Amsterdam increases to four points.

Beautiful goal by Gastón Pereiro
After a minute's silence due to the events in Paris last week, PSV quickly took the initiative in the match. The team looked sharp despite the somewhat strange week and expressed this in chances in the opening phase. After ten minutes, Bruma headed a corner kick from Guardado onto the post and the rebound was almost for Hendrix, who saw his shot go over. In the 12th minute, three goals still proved to be the charm. The ball ended up at the feet of Pereiro, who beat Willem II goalkeeper Lamprou with a trick shot: 0-1. PSV controlled the first half, but failed to extend the score.

Luuk de Jong prevents defeat
That cost the team dearly after halftime. PSV allowed Willem II to get into the game and saw the Tilburgers come alongside in the 55th minute. Falkenburg cleverly headed a corner kick behind Zoet. The goal worked like a red rag on a bull for the home side, because barely seven minutes later the same Falkenburg made it 2-1. Willem II could not enjoy the lead for very long. In the 73rd minute, captain De Jong brought PSV back on level terms. The striker took a deflected corner kick full on the instep and put PSV back in the lead: 2-2. The team did not get much further than that. For a moment Pereiro seemed to take PSV to 2-3 with a clever trick, but he stole the ball from Lamprou in an illegal manner.
