A season ago Denzel Dumfries signed for the winning goal at FC Groningen in the final minute, and a year and a half later the right back repeated that trick after only 15 minutes. One goal from the captain was enough for the win. 'Thirteen points in the last five games, we are happy with that,' the match-winner said afterwards.
'Dramatic second half'
With that, Dumfries was once again one of the most important PSV players on the pitch. In a season where PSV often struggles, the commitment, power and scoring ability of the right wing defender provides a lot of points. "The first half was good, I think. We could have scored a few more times. The second half was really dramatic," said a critical Dumfries in front of FOX Sports' cameras. "We walked backwards, didn't play our own game anymore. We no longer had the discipline up front and in the back. Then you make it difficult for yourself. We should have just continued as we did in the first half."
'Unnerstall really good'
Due to some precautions because of the Corona virus, the PSV players could not enter the mixed zone of the stadium in Groningen after the game. That is why the captain gave his word at the press conference. There he also said he was pleased with the performance of Lars Unnerstall. "It's great to have him behind me. Lars is a really good goalkeeper."
