Denzel Dumfries, despite the win, was critical of PSV's play against Fortuna Sittard. 'We started well, but lost the grip completely. It was not to write home about,' he told FOX Sports.

Losing grip
The captain saw PSV take an early 1-0 lead thanks to Donyell Malen, but then completely give away the initiative. "In the beginning we controlled the match, were fierce and created good chances. We had a grip on the match, but lost it completely," Dufmries said. "Maybe it's a touch of fatigue," the captain then referred to last Thursday's match. "But even then, we shouldn't let it come to this."

Point of Light Teze
Jordan Teze agreed. "At one point we gave it away. That shouldn't happen with the qualities we have," the young center defender told the press conference at Philips Stadium. The 21-year-old defender played in almost all games in the first block and is happy with the level he has reached in recent weeks. "I think it's going in the right direction. I need to develop further, of course, but I'm happy with the minutes I'm getting."

Schmidt: satisfied with result after tough weeks
Head coach Roger Schmidt was especially satisfied that his team stepped off the field with a win. "It was a tough game for us," Schmidt said, pointing to the busy schedule PSV has faced in recent weeks. "Last Thursday's game and the period before that with three away games and two flights cost us a lot of strength. I have to compliment my team that they got the three points across the line today as well."

"We are not yet able to play three days the way I envision," Schmidt continued. "How we played on Thursday in Trondheim is how I like to see it. Both technically and tactically we were in a good position there. Everyone around the team knew that in the early stages of the season we couldn't bring that time and time again. Then you have to make sure you still win."
