After a lesser period, Pascal Jansen's team took all three points on Monday night for the first time since February 1. Young PSV took advantage of the few chances and went into the break 2-0 up. Helmond Sport scored a tying goal, but was not really dangerous after that. Luiz Beto da Silva's goal put the final score on the scoreboard: 3-1.
Pole and Laursen hit the mark
Pascal Jansen's team started with Adam Maher in the starting lineup and had by far the most ball possession in the first half. The number of chances remained limited, however. The first opportunity - after about 15 minutes of play - led directly to the opening goal. Kenneth Paal shot at goal, but goalkeeper Van der Steen was able to save at first. Nikolai Laursen was sharper, however, and on the rebound scored the 1-0. A few minutes later there was the first opportunity for the guests, but nothing came of it. In the 25th minute Helmond Sport again came close to the PSV goal, this time Yanick van Osch saved a free kick by Strijbosch. Ten minutes before halftime Paal shot the ball brilliantly into the cross; halftime score 2-0.
Beto decisive
Both teams started the second half without changes. Young PSV immediately resumed the good play from before halftime and was twice close to a third goal. A shot by Maher was deflected into a corner and an effort by Sander Heesakkers went just over Van der Steen's goal. Moments later the crowd cheered as Strijbosch nodded the ball in with his head: 2-1 and the tension was back in the match. Helmond Sport continued to hunt for the equalizer, but did not really become dangerous. In the 84th minute, Young PSV put the game away. After a dribble from the halfway line Steven Bergwijn reached substitute Luiz Beto da Silva with a cross, the Peruvian tapped the ball in with control to make it 3-1.
Lineup Young PSV:
