Young PSV failed to take points against number three in the league: De Graafschap. The team took the lead twice, but could not hold on to it. There was one bright spot in the match. Richard Ledezma and Nigel Thomas were able to reinforce their team after injury.
Chance
Young PSV started the match at a high pace. The team managed to get close to the De Graafschap goal through clever combination play. The red and white created several chances. For example, Dante Sealy kicked the ball towards the opponent's goal, but former PSV player Hidde Jurjus managed to stop the shot. Not much later Simon Colyn also got a chance, but again the goalie was in the way. Funnily enough, in the end it was a defender who gave Young PSV the lead. Fedde Leysen headed the ball in hard in the 34th minute. The home team seemed to go into halftime with a lead, but a backpass ball ended up in their own goal, and so it was tied again.
Rentrees
The second half saw Richard Ledezma make his long-awaited comeback. It was the American's first game on the pitch again after he was out injured one year ago. Young PSV immediately put the pressure back on. After a number of attempts, Simon Colyn was finally the man to bring the team back into the lead. The striker kicked the ball low into the right corner in the 78th minute. Unfortunately for them, the lead did not last long. In the 75th minute, de Graafschap pulled the score straight again. Both teams battled on and Young PSV got a few more chances. Nigel Thomas, who also returned from injury, came very close, but his effort flew just past the goal. The game was almost over when the team from Doetinchem, against the odds, came up the left flank and scored the winning goal with a sharp cross.
