Captain Denzel Dumfries did not hide his feelings after the defeat against AZ: 'It was bad. PSV unworthy.' Striker Donyell Malen concurred.
Energy
"How is it possible?", Dumfries wondered looking at the result. "It was a really bad game from our side. We didn't put enough energy into the match and lost all the second balls. Our game was not full of abandon. AZ has enough qualities to punish that," he analyzed.
Program
Did it have to do with the second topper in three days? "No, everyone has a busy program. If you put in so little energy, you bring it on yourself. This was PSV unworthy," said Dumfries, who found support from Donyell Malen. "Disappointing. Everyone balks. The coach and a few guys say something, but otherwise it was mainly disappointment in the dressing room," the striker said.
'It's not done yet'
"This was not what we are used to from ourselves. We cheered ourselves up at halftime, scored a good goal fairly quickly from a free kick, but after that it didn't work out," Malen continued to end on a positive note. "The season is still long. It's not over yet."
