Wessel Kuhn received De Frederik on Tuesday night. The 18-year-old defender made his debut for PSV 1 in the nerve-wracking match against Red Star Belgrade. He was presented with the memento after the UEFA Champions League match.
Wessel has been playing at PSV since the O9 and then went through all the youth teams. Last summer he made the switch from PSV O19 to Young PSV. That he could already make his debut with the main squad came as a surprise to him as well. "I didn't see it coming, but when the coach calls you up, you don't have to think twice. This one comes high on the list of special nights in my life."

Wessel is the fourth rookie to receive the Frederik. Previously, Samuel Gomez van Hoogen, Matteo Dams and Michael Bresser received the memento for their debuts. The Frederik is an award for Academy players who make their debut for the main squad. In cooperation with GoodHabitz, PSV launched the prize this summer. This way, players from their own academy receive a nice memento of their first minutes for the A-selection.
