The 500th goal, four new faces and the biggest win of the season. There are plenty of details to mention after this encounter with Almere City. Most importantly, the debutants shone in a resounding victory for Young PSV.
500th goal
Almere City escaped a red card early in the match after a hefty charge on Koen Jansen. However, Young PSV did not let themselves be fooled and dominated possession of the ball. In the nineteenth minute that translated into a lead. Simon Colyn headed the 500th goal of the promise in professional football into the ropes. It could not enjoy this for long, because after only three minutes the score was tied. And then the PSV show started. Nigel Thomas saw his chance after a pass from Jansen and successfully pulled the trigger. Even before halftime Fedde Leysen scored the third goal. Via a corner he brought his team a little closer to victory.
Young PSV show
Early in the second half, Almere City put more pressure. Through clever teamwork, Young PSV managed to get around the team from Flevoland. Johan Bakayoko took advantage of that opportunity. He dribbled past his opponent as if he was not there and shot the ball under the goalkeeper. Ruud van Nistelrooy then brought two more debutants into the lines with Isaac Babadi and August Priske Flyger. The latter took the opportunity and scored on a pass from none other than: Koen Jansen. The 5-1 victory was immediately the biggest of the season for Young PSV, who scored ten times in two games against the Almeren players.
