After André Ramalho nips an FC Twente counterattack in the bud, he finds Guus Til. The midfielder launched Johan Bakayoko, who in turn reached Joey Veerman. The playmaker signed for the opening goal in a game in which he could hardly be caught with a bad pass.

With a good run and tight finish, Joey provided the lead just before halftime. Yet again it was his passing with which the playmaker excelled the most. Of his 98 passes, 89% actually reached a teammate. 35% of his passes were played forward. The Volendam native also only lost five balls. These are remarkable statistics in themselves, but it is even more impressive when you consider that Joey regularly sends balls into a crowded sixteen.
Key Actions
Joey's passes not infrequently lead to chances. At De Grolsch Veste, he came to three key actions. Together with Johan the highest number of all players. This Eredivisie season, Joey has already created 63 chances in thirteen games. Almost thirty more than runner-up Calvin Stengs (36). Together with Johan and the Feyenoord midfielder, he shares the most assists of the season (7).
Interception
The Oranje international played the entire match and asserted himself as an all-rounder in Head Coach Peter Bosz. Against FC Twente, he captured possession of the ball several times by himself, then showed his quality with the ball at foot. He did this six times. Only central defenders André Ramalho and Olivier Boscagli won back possession more often with an interception.
Veerman was voted MOTM for the second time. Only Luuk de Jong received the honorary title more often this season (3).
