Luuk de Jong was somewhat disappointed that PSV needed an extension against FC Volendam to reach the eighth final of the KNVB Beker tournament. "We should have finished much earlier, but the most important thing is that we are through," the striker told FOX Sports.
According to De Jong, PSV still started the match well, but sank a bit after a number of chances. "We should have made sure we kept switching sides quickly to find the spaces. We didn't do that. As a result, it often became a little too busy in the middle."
De Jong himself had a good chance shortly before the end to decide the game inside 90 minutes, but saw goalkeeper Hobie Verhulst save on a header from close range. That was a great save. It's unfortunate that we had to play thirty more minutes, but the win is the most important thing. I had the feeling that the boys were eager. If we had scored, there would have been little to worry about."
