De Jong and Van Bommel unanimous: 'unnecessary'

Captain Luuk de Jong was bitterly disappointed after PSV completely gave away a 2-0 lead in the closing stages. "We only have ourselves to blame for this," he said.

'This should never be'
De Jong, maker of the opening goal in the first half, didn't really understand where things went wrong. "This should never have happened, of course. We played a good first half in which we took the lead. After halftime things didn't go as well, but we even got to 2-0. Of course you should never give that away again." In the end it did and that means expensive point loss in the title battle with Ajax. De Jong: "Every point loss is expensive of course, we know that. We really regret this, we will talk about it."

Unnecessary
Head coach Mark van Bommel called the draw unnecessary. "We were in control of the match," the coach felt. "Then you have to take distance earlier. Until the 1-2 I thought we played well, after that it was very difficult to add anything coaching-wise. A lot went wrong defensively with that last ball. That was a bit all or nothing."
