Luuk de Jong was again incredibly important for PSV with the opening goal just after halftime. The striker was exactly in the right place at a cross from Angeliño and finished successfully. "I don't know if the ball was touched yet, but it was a lovely ball to tap in," he said.
'We didn't play badly'
The PSV captain was obviously pleased with the victory in Breda. "It was a tough game tonight. NAC is in a difficult phase and they are giving everything. Because of that we didn't have it easy. Yet I didn't think we played badly. We came through well at times and we have all the qualities to decide a game."
No penalty
De Jong was also asked about the situation with Nick Viergever's alleged handball. A penalty kick was definitely not what the captain thought it was. "Nick takes the ball and unknowingly gets it against his hand. In such a situation you cannot give a penalty."
Good enough
Like De Jong, Mark van Bommel felt his team deservedly won in Breda. "Based on work ethic, character, commitment and belief, I give my team an eight and a half," said Van Bommel, who disagreed with the analysis that PSV did not play well. "The difficult thing about this kind of match is having patience. Patience is not playing slowly, but making the right choices at the right moments. It was very difficult to get the right players in possession of the ball, before halftime they succeeded a few times. In the second half we got a little more tired, then it worked better."
