With the current rankings, thoughts of PSV - Vitesse quickly go back to the 2006-2007 season. PSV became Dutch champions on the last matchday by beating Vitesse 5-1. In doing so, they stayed ahead of Ajax, who were still above PSV earlier that afternoon, on goal difference. The difference? Exactly one goal. Phillip Cocu's 5-1.
Also champion in 2005
Vitesse was also the opponent during another championship game of PSV. On April 23, 2005, the team from Arnhem was beaten 3-0. Ji-Sung Park (photo below) put PSV on the right track by slotting in the 1-0 after 23 minutes. Mark van Bommel and Gerald Sibon ensured that the champagne corks could finally come off the bottle.

The 2013-2014 season proves that things also sometimes went less well against Vitesse. In a period when PSV was not doing so well, the team lost 6-2 to Vitesse. Salient detail: Davy Pröpper found the net twice on behalf of Vitesse.

But most of the results against the team from Gelderland are 'just' positive. Of the 30 meetings, PSV won 22, the game ended undecided three times and the team from Arnhem won five times.The biggest victory over Vitesse was on September 23, 1978 when PSV won 5-0 at Philips Stadium. Last season it remained 2-0 thanks to goals from Luuk de Jong and Adam Maher.
