PSV has extended Armando Obispo 's expiring contract by two years. The 25-year-old defender put his signature to the commitment, which runs through to the summer of 2027, on Friday afternoon at Philips Stadium.

The left-legged player went through PSV's entire youth training and made his debut in the main squad on March 17, 2018, during the league game with VVV-Venlo (3-0 win). Meanwhile, he has been a familiar face within the selection for years. "Although recently - partly due to injuries - I have not played as much as I had envisioned," Obispo added. "This new contract at PSV shows great appreciation and I am very motivated to repay the club's trust by putting in the best possible performance on the pitch. There is another period with many important matches ahead and I hope to be of value in that."

Director of football affairs Earnest Stewart calls Obispo's contract extension important for PSV for several reasons. "With his excellent passing, Armando fits well with the way PSV likes to play," Stewart said. "Moreover, Armando is a child of the club. We are proud of the path he has taken from a young age and also see him as someone who can help young players. We have a lot of confidence in Armando's future."
