Together with 32,800 spectators, Phillip Cocu saw PSV win 3-0 over Heracles Almelo on Sunday afternoon. At the Philips Stadium, he concluded with satisfaction that his team had done what it needed to do: "win.
'Superb 1-0'
The head coach saw PSV play a good first half, but slump a bit in the second half. "It was a game with good phases and lesser phases," he concluded to FOX Sports. "When we were forced back we didn't play well. That can be improved." What Cocu did enjoy was his team's 1-0. "The assist from Hendrix was really fantastic. We pay a lot of attention to making the most of each other's qualities. After that, we failed to put the game in the lock."
'A little too preoccupied with Feyenoord - Ajax'
"For my feeling, after halftime we thought a little too much: we have to win, because Feyenoord and Ajax are playing against each other, instead of looking for the 2-0," Cocu continued. "We lacked the guts to keep covering through from defense and midfield. After the 2-0 you see that we do. When the players realize what type of team we are, we are very hard to beat. As soon as we let go of that, we will get difficult. That realization is there, we've also made great strides, but we're not quite where we want to be yet."
