Three points was the goal, and it was achieved. PSV has yet to lose a point in the Eredivisie. In front of ESPN's camera, Marco van Ginkel and Roger Schmidt look back on an interesting match.
Van Ginkel
"It was not an overly good game, but the goals were fantastic," Van Ginkel said. "AZ was good on the ball, we were restless and lost possession too often. Boscagli's goal came a bit out of nowhere, but because of that we went into halftime in a good mood. At the 0-2 it was over. We were able to put more pressure and keep control. There were a lot of substitutions but everyone did well. A very nice start to an important week."
Schmidt
"I'm happy with the result, with everything actually," Schmidt said. "It was a difficult match. AZ is a good team and they showed that. We had to work hard for the win. The home team had a number of chances but our defense was top notch. The back four did a great job. Sometimes we lack efficiency, not now."
Substitutions
PSV made use of all five substitutions, early in the match the first changes were made. The Head Coach explained why he made the choices he did, "After an international break, you never know how it is with the players. They have traveled a lot, played a lot and are tired faster. That's why there was a lot of pressure on the substitutions this match. It was very important that the guys on the bench were ready and could bring energy, which they did. We need our whole selection with the amount of matches we play. Not everyone can always play ninety minutes."
