Psv U21 suffered its third defeat of the season. At De Herdgang, coach Dennis Haar's pledges lost to those of his father Martin: 1-2.
Roulaux passed twice
With the debutant Youri Roulaux on goal, Young PSV started the game against the Alkmaar pledges with difficulty. In a fairly even first half, it was the visitors who had the most claim to goals. Every now and then Young PSV got in front of goalkeeper Olij's goal, but Dennis Haar's team could not create much danger. Jong AZ did, and two opportunities actually resulted in a goal. Twice Friday escaped the offside trap and just as often the striker rounded off effectively: 2-0.
Strike by Verreth insufficient
After halftime, Young PSV tried in vain to put things right, although they had a good chance through Mauro Junior after an hour. The young Brazilian appeared in free position in front of Olij, but was unable to outsmart the goalkeeper from close range. Matthias Verreth was able to do so fifteen minutes later. He cleverly promoted a corner kick from the edge of the penalty area to a goal and brought Young PSV, who had brought a second rookie into the field with Steven Theunissen, back to 1-2. Substitute Cody Gakpo went close to an equalizer in the closing stages, which, based on the game after halftime, Young PSV deserved but could not force.
