The Eredivisie resumes this weekend after the international period. A meeting with Vitesse is scheduled for PSV. The Arnhem club is currently in first place in the league, but PSV has played one match less. For Armando Obispo it is a special match, he plays this season on a rental basis for the Arnheimers.
Proud of the club
Against PSV, Obispo has never played. But he will give everything to leave an impression. "It takes some getting used to playing against my old club. But I am absolutely looking forward to it," Obispo said. "I want to show both clubs what I can do. If I play well now it can be good for both clubs. PSV is good, but Vitesse also has a good squad this season. I think few people expected us to be first after five games," said the defender proudly.
Flames
Obispo has commanded respect right away with the Gelderland squad. He has not missed a minute yet this season and thus contributes greatly to Vitesse's good performance. "I have stood out by doing my own thing and fought for my place. By working hard and blazing at training I have shown that I belong in the starting line-up."
Youth friends
Obispo went through PSV's youth training, so he will see many good friends of his on the field on Saturday: "Guys like Donyell Malen and Cody Gakpo are good friends of mine. It's very special to be able to play against them. I've been playing with Cody for more than 12 years, so it's nice to meet him again. I also follow Donyell; I was very proud when I saw him score against Germany. I sent a message right away to congratulate him."
Title contender
The title favorite this year, according to Obispo, is still his old team in Eindhoven. "PSV just has a chance at the title this season. It's a good team with a lot of talent. The youth training has done its job well. Those young guys, the new generation coming up, can really make a difference. It's very nice to see that," said the defender. He may be on loan from PSV, but he has no intention of holding back against his old club. "I'm playing for Vitesse now and I'm going to do everything I can to win. If necessary, Donyell can expect a tough tackle from me," Obispo said with a smile.
