For the second round of the new season of the Azerion Women's Eredivisie, PSV Women travels to The Hague on Friday. Last season, PSV grabbed the spoils after every match in the Hofstad.

PSV Women kicked off last week by winning 5-0 over Telstar Women in the first league game of the new season. New additions Nina Nijstad and Indiah Piage-Riley managed to find the net, as did Chimera Ripa, Gwyneth Hendriks and Joëlle Smits.

Previous success
The clubs have already played each other 34 times in the league. PSV won seventeen of those, drew seven and won ten. Last season both teams met in three official duels. After the two games played at the Bingoal Stadium, PSV stepped off the field with victory both times. First they won 1-4 in the semifinals of the TOTO KNVB Beker, and then 1-2 in the league. The game in Eindhoven ended in a 1-1 draw.

First prize
PSV Women has fond memories of playing against the Hagenezen: the team, then led by Rick de Rooij, won its first top prize against ADO. In the 2020-2021 season, the TOTO KNVB Cup went to the Red-Whites, after they were too strong 1-0 in the final. Joëlle Smits then accounted for the only goal.

Familiar faces
For ADO Den Haag Vrouwen, Friday's game is the first of the season. It finished in 5th place on the league table last year, one place below PSV Women. The Eindhoven squad includes three former players of ADO Den Haag Vrouwen.

Defender Gwyneth Hendriks enjoyed her breakthrough in PSV Women's first last season, having previously made the switch from ADO Den Haag's women's team. She scored her first Eredivisie goal for PSV during the opening match against Telstar Women. Players Shanique Dessing and Naomi Piqué, acquired from Excelsior, have also worn ADO Den Haag shirts in the past.
