In the third game in the league phase, PSV takes on Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. It is the first time to meet the French main force. In the last five games against French opponents, PSV did not lose, won twice and shared the points three times.

The last victory on French soil dates from Sept. 27, 2006, when PSV won 1-0 over Girondins de Bordeaux. In the five European matches after that, PSV played four draws and lost once. In total, PSV played nineteen European matches in France. In those, the team emerged victorious twice, ten times they shared the points, and seven times they lost.

Last year, PSV still played against RC Lens. In the away game Johan Bakayoko opened the scoring, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw. At home, the main squad took three points through a 1-0 victory.

Season start

Paris Saint-Germain won its first game in the league phase. At home, Girona FC was defeated 1-0. The second game the Parisians were guests of Arsenal in London. The Gunners were too strong for the French 2-0. In the Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain is still unbeaten. Six times they won and twice the game ended in a draw.

No victory yet
PSV is one of thirteen teams without a win in the league phase. That is no reason to panic. After all, in the new format there are eight matches instead of six. And last season, thanks to two wins and one draw in the last three games, PSV still managed to win the winter.

Peter Bosz
For coach Peter Bosz, it is a meeting with his fear opponent. He has never won against the Parisians, either as a coach or player. As coach of Olympique Lyonnais, he drew once and lost twice. His only game as a coach at the Parc des Princes ended in a 2-1 defeat. As a player at SC Toulon, he also played three games against Paris Saint-Germain: twice the game ended in a draw, and once he lost.

Both clubs
The last player to play for both PSV and Paris Saint-Germain is one that is still fresh in the minds of many PSV supporters: Xavi Simons. Other players who have played for both clubs include Mateja Kežman, Alex and Georginio Wijnaldum.
