If past results are a guarantee of results in the future, PSV has a strong starting position against FC Groningen. Because we lost only 1 of 44 home games against the club from the far north. Read all about the duel with the promoter here.

That defeat dates back to March 29, 2014, when FC Groningen was too strong 2-3. Of the remaining 43 matches, PSV won 34 and nine ended in a draw. The last time FC Groningen visited was on Feb. 11, 2023. Then, thanks to goals by Luuk de Jong, Xavi Simons, Jarrad Branthwaite, Johan Bakayoko, Fábio Silva and Guus Til, PSV was too strong 6-0. That season's away game yielded no points and Ricardo Pepi was partly responsible for that. The striker, then still employed by the opponent, led FC Groningen's 4-2 victory with a goal.

Intercountry break
PSV is coming out of international breaks strongly this season. The first two games after such a break yielded a victory each time: in October they defeated AZ 2-1 and N.E.C. Nijmegen was defeated 2-0 a month ago.

In form
Ismael Saibari has been on form lately. In his last seven duels for club and country, the Moroccan international was directly involved in a goal nine times. Six times as a starter, three times as a finisher. But Ismael is not the only one, Ricardo Pepi is also on a roll this season. He has already scored six goals for PSV this season, despite having played only 428 minutes. That works out to one goal per 72 minutes. Last week he scored two more goals for the United States, helping his country to a spot in the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations League.
