PSV will take on ADO Den Haag in the quarterfinals. It is the eighth time that PSV is paired with the club from the Hague in the cup. Ruud van Nistelrooij's team will have to be on their guard, as the quarterfinals have regularly been the end station recently.
PSV won only one of its last four quarter-finals in the KNVB Beker. That was last season, when it won 4-0 from NAC Breda. It lost to FC Utrecht (1-3) in 2016, Feyenoord (2-0) in 2018 and Ajax (2-1) in 2021.
Balance between them
The last cup encounter was in the 2002-2003 season, when PSV won 3-0. Mateja Kežman and Dennis Rommedahl (2) were the goal scorers. In total, PSV stepped off the field victorious five times. Three times ADO Den Haag ran away with the win.
FC Emmen on a visit
In the battle for a place in the quarterfinals, PSV won 3-1 at home against FC Emmen. Luuk de Jong put the game into the lock (77') after Jarrad Branthwaite (7' & 14') had put PSV ahead 2-0.
Opposition First Divisionists
In total, PSV took on a First Divisionist seventy times in the TOTO KNVB Cup. Since 2014-2015, PSV went down in three of its eight cup encounters with a First Divisionist. These were against Roda JC (3-2), RKC Waalwijk (2-3) and NAC Breda (2-0).
Cup success
If PSV wins the cup this season, it will be the first club since 2007 to do so. Last year, PSV ran away with the top prize after beating Ajax 2-1 in a thrilling final. The last time PSV reached the final twice in a row was in the 2012-2013 season. Then they lost 3-1 to AZ. One season earlier, PSV won 3-0 from Heracles Almelo.
