PSV O19 cups through
On a warm Saturday, the first round of the cup tournament was on the program. Ruud van Nistelrooy's team visited NEC in Nijmegen. Penalties brought the decision after an exciting match.
The Eindhoveners started the match strongly and immediately put NEC under pressure. With some good attacks, PSV created a number of opportunities in the first minutes, but a goal did not materialize. The O19 continued to attack and were particularly dangerous through Madueke and Sambo. In the 40th minute, this yielded the deserved lead. After a nice attack through Madueke and Timan, the ball ended up with Van Duivenbooden. The striker took a good shot, the goalkeeper saved, but Antonisse was quick to put PSV O19 ahead.
After halftime, NEC came out of the locker room a little brighter. The Nijmegen players even hit the post, but were shown a red card moments later. Despite having more men on the pitch, the O19 still had to concede a goal. After sloppy ball loss, a distance shot was unstoppable for goalkeeper Maxime Delanghe and the score suddenly became 1-1. Although PSV went looking for a second lead, it did not come and the penalty shootout had to decide. And in the series Delanghe took the lead by stopping a penalty kick himself and shooting in the winning goal. PSV O19 continues the cup.
