  1. Match report

Today PSV D2 played the last practice game before Saturday's league starts with an away game against Roosendaal. Tonight's opponent was the D1 of Top Oss.

PSV starts the match sharp. With good football, the opponent was pinned down in their own half. Soon PSV scored the opening goal when Giovanni Nicolaas sent Joey Konings into space on the left; Joey crossed, Matthias Verreth extended with his head and Mats Grotenbreg nodded in at the far post: 1-0. After this goal, PSV maintains the initiative. Matthias came close with a free kick that went just over and Joey was dangerous with a shot just wide. PSV continues to create chances through good combinations. A cross by Matthias from the right wing created new danger, but Joey's header sailed over the goal. During the first half, Top got a little bit better in the game. This leads to the first danger in front of the PSV goal; the finishing shot, however, is nicely blocked by the attentive Ymanuel Hurkmans. With half-time approaching, PSV becomes stronger again. It is Matthias who shoots twice just over, first after a fine action of Ertem Bölükbas and then after a beautiful one-touch attack via Gio and Joey. Shortly before halftime, the deserved 2-0 fell. An attack across the width of the pitch went via Ertem, Gio and Matthias to Mats, who shot diagonally from the right. After a good first half by PSV, the players go into halftime.

Although the second half is of a slightly lower caliber than the first half, PSV still gets its chances. Top Oss also has a few opportunities. PSV is dangerous for the first time when Twan Demin takes a corner from the edge of the penalty area and aims just wide. From the following counter the Top striker thinks he can strike, but Ties van den Eijnde prevents the danger with a good block tackle. At the other end, moments later Ties places a corner on the head of Dante Rigo, but his header is stopped by the goalkeeper. After this warning, it's back on track. Dante crosses from the left, Matthias lays back well and Twan runs in to make it 3-0. The match seems decided, but Top thinks otherwise and almost immediately scores the 3-1 with a shot into the short corner. PSV tries to extend the lead through long-distance shots by Matthias, Koen Vos and Joey, but they do not hit the target. It is even Top Oss that regains the lead with the 3-2 from a free kick. However, Top's powder was shot. PSV runs even further when Gio puts Zohair in front of the goalkeeper after a nice action. Zohair coolly rounds off and puts the 4-2 final score on the board.

After a year of playing practice matches, it is now looking forward to the start of the league. Given the potential of PSV D2, it could be a great year.
