The report
The renovation of De Herdgang is in full swing, but it is only the end of March and so there is still football to be played. Last Saturday a great league match was scheduled, PSV O19 against Feyenoord O19. The Rotterdammers had to win to still have a chance of winning the championship, if they lost the game they would be too far behind Ajax and PSV.
In the first few minutes Feyenoord had a few small opportunities. After this, PSV took over the game and it was Zakaria Aboukhlal who almost scored the 1-0 in the 12th minute with a nice move from the center line. In the 16th minute it was the turn of Robin Schoonbrood, who with a nice pass sent Aboukhlal away towards the back line. His cross was tailor-made to the Justin Lonwijk who ran along. And the attacking midfielder shot PSV to a deserved 1-0 lead. After PSV's opening goal, Feyenoord again had some small chances, but without becoming really dangerous. A foul on Lonwijk in the 22nd minute earned Joël Piroe a free kick. He curled it beautifully into the far corner, but the Rotterdam goalkeeper tapped the ball out of the goal. In the 38th minute, the goal did come. A well taken corner kick by Michal Sadilek was nicely headed in by Maxime Soulas, who got to the ball before the goalkeeper: 2-0. After a hard tackle a Feyenoord player was sent off in injury time of the first half, forcing Feyenoord to continue with ten.
After halftime, Mark van Bommel's boys started the remainder of the match brightly again. In the 50th minute it was Tijn van Daverveld who intercepted the ball well and with a nice pass reached Piroe. Piroe shot the ball past the goalkeeper to give PSV a 3-0 lead. In the 68th minute Feyenoord were allowed to take a corner kick, in the switch it was Aboukhlal who sent Amar Catic away. This winger was so quick that the Feyenoord defender had to pull the emergency brake, resulting in a second red card for the Rotterdammers. PSV had two good opportunities in the remainder, the first through Piroe, whose header went just wide. And in the 83rd minute Catic's effort hit the post. PSV played the game out in a controlled manner. The next match is Saturday, April 7 at 3:30 p.m. at AZ.
