PSV finally got to the pitch again Saturday after the winter break for the 1st.league match. In the newly established 2nd. league half, the team received FC Utrecht at the Herdgang, which had placed itself among the best teams in the league before the winter break. PSV took the full spoils, especially on the basis of the good 1st. half.
Nevertheless, the 1st. good chance was for the guests. In the 8th. minute the defense misjudged a deep ball, allowing a Utrecht attacker to get through to the outrunning Arne. His lob, however, lacked enough height for Arne to easily defuse it. After that it was PSV that had the initiative with some excellent attacks and even better goals. Halfway through the 1st. half, PSV took the lead with 2 fantastic goals in the space of 5 minutes. In the 18th minute, Roel, who had come up on the left, played a good cross to Bobby, who had moved to the right. Bobby took the ball to his feet and curled it into the far left corner, 1-0. Five minutes later PSV got a free kick on the right on the edge of the Utrecht penalty area. A perfect place for left-footed Joël who made the ball disappear with a beautiful curve into the short corner 2-0. PSV did not relinquish control in the second half either and created good chances to make it 3-0. The most memorable one came from Bobby, who shot at the post in the 54th minute after he placed the ball to his left with an inimitable move that seemed to dislocate his hip. Utrecht did become dangerous on a number of occasions and scored the tying goal from a counter in the 66th minute. Although Utrecht then started to take risks and PSV had a number of great opportunities, including Joel, to bring the game to a close, the score was ultimately 2-1.
Next week the O16 will play an away match against FC Twente.
