    Goal-rich duel in Utrecht

In the eighth match round, PSV O15 had an away game against FC Utrecht on the program. And with Utrecht, the Eindhoven players immediately faced their fearsome opponent this season. In the previous three editions PSV scored twice each time, but could not convert a single game into the full three points. Twice a 2-2 draw and once the points stayed in Utrecht (3-2). Goal-rich matches in other words. Will it be the same today?

The numbers three (Utrecht with twelve points from seven matches) and two (PSV with thirteen from seven) kicked off in glorious spring weather. There were no chances in the first quarter of an hour, despite good play. PSV was stronger on the ball while Utrecht tried to put their lightning-fast outside right in position. The home team succeeded in doing so in the seventeenth minute when it profited from unfortunate ball loss near the halfway line. The Utrecht outfielder then rounded it off beautifully by shooting the ball hard in from distance: 1-0. PSV soon came alongside as, in the 24th minute, Ruben van Bommel delivered the ball to Jesper Uneken, who cleverly cleared the ball in a forest of players and shot hard inside. A few minutes later the guests almost took the lead: Milan Govaers sent Isaac Babadi deep and he had the 1-2 on his feet, but unfortunately the goalkeeper saved at the last moment, preventing PSV from taking the lead for the first time this season against Utrecht. After Niek Schiks made one save, Utrecht took the lead again before halftime. And again it was the fast outfielder who got too much space and scored the 2-1. PSV could have come alongside before the halftime signal when Lars Putters put Ruben in front of the goal with a lovely opening. However, his slide went back into the field via the inside of the post.

After halftime, PSV started well. A header by Jason van Duiven went just over. But three minutes later Utrecht's third goal was also in the net when the outside player took advantage of ball loss on the halfway line. A minute later Lars had the tying goal on his foot, but his lob over the outstretched goalkeeper did not go high enough. In the 43rd minute Utrecht countered for a decisive 4-1 lead. The home team was very efficient with their chances. Two minutes later, PSV came closer when Koen Jansen reached Jason with a cross, who slid the ball into the left corner. PSV got back on track and had a chance to make it 4-3. And they did! Lars pumped the ball high into the box and via Livano Comenencia it ended up at the feet of Jesper, who did not hesitate and shot the ball straight in. Unfortunately it went no further than that, so PSV again failed to take the spoils against FC Utrecht. The field play was fine, the intentions were good, but unfortunately all that did not yield three points this time.

Next Wednesday, the O15 will play the quarterfinals in the cup in Amsterdam against Ajax, followed by Saturday's home game against Heerenveen.
