  1. Match report

In the first ten minutes of the match both teams were equal. Both teams had a few opportunities but no goals were scored. FC Utrecht had the best chance to take the lead but the shot was too soft. After ten minutes PSV took control of the game. In the fourteenth minute this resulted in the lead. A free kick by Mathijs was cleverly extended by Amin and he surprised the FC Utrecht goalkeeper, 0-1. PSV continued unabated after this lead. Yet it was FC Utrecht that became dangerous in the 19th minute after a quick attack. At the last moment the PSV defense was able to put things in order. In the counterattack PSV had a great chance to extend their lead, but the ball was shot just wide. PSV had the game under control after that. It was totally unnecessary that FC Utrecht came alongside in the injury time of the first half. After sloppy defending a FC Utrecht player shot the ball from outside the penalty area high into the goal, 1-1.

In the second half both teams went in search of the lead. No real opportunities were created. PSV tried to find an opening in the home club's defense, but the last pass was not accurate enough. FC Utrecht often used the long ball but had no success with that either. It took until the 62nd minute before PSV had the opportunity to score. A free kick was shot hard and high just beside the goal. One minute later the lead came for PSV. Ian played the ball over the FC Utrecht defense. Jeremy's shot was initially turned away by the home team's goalkeeper, then the ball was cleared off the line by a home team defender, but in the third instance Jeremy left the defense defenseless, 1-2. After this lead by PSV, the home club went all out to score the equalizer. This gave PSV a lot of space and therefore the best chances. Well into injury time Jeremy decided the match. With a long-distance shot into the far corner he put the 1-3 final score on the scoreboard. PSV showed especially in the first half what it has to offer. In the second half, PSV hardly got into trouble and after the lead, the game was played out well.
