  1. Match report

Kevin Hofland, figurehead of Fortuna Sittard is the trainer of PSV O12. Maradonny, striker of Fortuna Sittard is a trainee of PSV O12. The spoiled boys of PSV can become autumn champions today so must be nervous. PSV's players can play very good football, so we must not let them do that we must be on top of them.
These will undoubtedly be words or phrases that the Fortuna Sittard coach used in his match talk. There are so many elements in this match for the Fortuna Sittard coach to motivate his boys, that you know beforehand that it is going to be a very tough match for PSV O12. But in PSV training you have to learn to deal with the pressure of playing for 1st place. So again a lot of learning moments today.
At the start of the match it was clear to PSV's players that they had to score, Feyenoord were on an equal number of points, only PSV had a better goal difference of plus 7. Feyenoord playing at home against Roda Jc were therefore going to do everything they could to score as many goals as possible to try to reduce the goal difference and possibly go over. From the start of the game it was clear that PSV had more qualities than the guests from Limburg, only it still had to be converted into goals. It took until the 9th minute before PSV became dangerous, D'Leanu tried with a distance shot, the ball did go towards the cross, but unfortunately on the wrong side of the goal. 2 Minutes later it was Martijn who managed to hit the post, chances kept coming but either they were just not clean enough, or the excellent goalkeeper got in the way. In the last minute of the first half the deserved goal seemed to come after all, Mylian tried to score with a nice curve ball but again the goalkeeper made a fantastic save. The score at halftime was 0-0. The coach made it clear at halftime that he was not satisfied with the way the team was playing, by playing together more, a higher ball speed and more fervor, those were the ingredients needed for the second half.

In the 35th minute the opening goal finally came, Mats with a good cross brought the ball into the 16 to the feet of Martijn who in turn played the ball neatly in front of the goal, now it was a piece of cake for Joep to tap the ball in. 1-0. There were chances to extend the score but still the ball would not go in. Jesse had a great chance at the 2nd post but this ball also just past the post on the wrong side of the goal. So there was always a risk that Fortuna could score the tying goal with one breakaway. In the 62nd minute Joris reacted well to a wrong return ball from Fortuna, but Joey had to tap the ball in to make it 2-0. Still PSV tried to score more but the ball would not go in. In the 56 minute it was Dylan who made the score even higher, with a nice lop he left the Fortuna goalkeeper defenseless.3-0 was the final score. Not the best match of the PSV boys today but as a team performance a great match. Now it was waiting to see what Feyenoord had done, there were rumors that Feyenoord had won 12-0 (thanks Donny), so the players went inside disappointed. Once inside, it turned out that Feyenoord had only won 4-2, so we could still celebrate. Too bad this had not been announced on the field so the players could have thanked their loyal supporters. But this thank you from the players is certainly a gift to you. With a slide of shampoo through the locker room, the players celebrated well.

This then was the first half of the series, in it we have seen a varying PSV, good games, lesser games, games with a lot of passion and fight and games in which the passion and fight were far from it. But I don't think you should expect at this age that it's top every week. The players still have to learn to deal with the fact that most opponents are 200% motivated to win against PSV. But if you look at where the players are now compared to the beginning of the league there is a clear upward trend, and that is what PSV's training is all about. After the winter break comes a new challenge for the Boys, playing against the best teams from all over the Netherlands in their own age category with the championship of the Netherlands as a reward. Further travel, every game plenty of resistance there is nothing more beautiful.
On behalf of the players and staff I want to thank the loyal supporters for their positive support in the autumn series, and we expect (know for sure) that after the winter break you will be there again to support the boys. And of course for the boys congratulations, you are the deserved champions and enjoy it, and prepare well for a beautiful but tough competition.
And of course happy holidays from the players and staff PSV O12.
