The report
Last Saturday, FC Twente was the guest at De Herdgang for the league match against PSV O14. Looking at the rankings, this opponent should not be a problem for the team of Vincent Heilmann. On paper, the 4-1 victory seemed easy, but Twente gave much more resistance than expected.
It soon became clear what FC Twente's intention was. Play very compact, make the spaces small and get out quickly from there. PSV started well, which resulted in a goal in the 5th minute. After Michon Roelofs managed to play Tim van de Heuvel free, it was Tim in turn who saw Khaled Rhazak, who could easily tap in. After this quick opening goal, Twente came out of their shell and showed that they could also play good football. But the chances they do get are not exploited, Bart Hamers the PSV goalie stands up well every time. So despite the chances, Twente does not manage to score. In the 27th minute, the Jason van Duiven show starts. The player who still played for Twente last season was eager to show why PSV got him. In three minutes he manages to score a pure hat-trick. After a good cross from Tim in the 27th minute, Jason manages to score well with his head. One minute later Emir Bars gives a deep ball to Jason, who stays cool one on one with the goalkeeper and slides the ball into the net. Another minute later Jason is quicker than everyone when the ball falls into a no-man's land behind the defense, from 30 yards the ball rolls into the goal. Another minute later Jason tries again with a free kick, but now the ball goes just wide. But the PSV boys can go to rest with a 4-0 lead.
In the second half there are chances for both teams but the ball just won't go in. In the last minute of the match FC Twente gets their deserved goal. Due to careless defending by PSV, Twente is able to score.
All in all, a reasonable game by PSV. But surely the big man on the field was Jason, who clearly made the difference today. The problem this team had with scoring last season has now been solved with the acquisition of Jason and at Twente it was clear what was lacking, scoring ability. And that scoring ability is now running at PSV.
