PSV O13 can't turn good start into result

In the third league game of the season, PSV O13 suffered its first defeat. After a good start, the team lost to Ajax in the last minute. The defeat was unnecessary, as there was certainly more in it for the Eindhoveners.

PSV started the match energetically and took the lead in the fourth minute. Striker Eus Waayers put good pressure on the Ajax goalkeeper, preventing the keeper from getting the ball away and delivering it to Nicolas Verkooijen. From a difficult angle - Nicolas was almost on the back line - he still managed to find the goal, giving the Belgian his team an early 1-0 lead. Fifteen minutes later it was even 2-0 for PSV: Raf van de Riet was allowed to lay on for a free kick and found the head of Samuel Gomez. The midfielder got to the ball before the Ajax goalkeeper, allowing him to nod the ball calmly in.

Despite the 2-0 lead, Ajax also managed to create a few chances in the first 30 minutes. For example, the Amsterdam number 10 missed in front of an empty goal and goalkeeper Daan van de Brande was attentive several times to a long ball. Yet PSV scored a goal in the last minute of the first half. After a deep ball, PSV could not get rid of the ball at the back, allowing the Ajax striker to score. Shortly after this goal the halftime signal sounded, leaving both teams with a 2-1 score.

In the second half, it was Ajax that made the play. The Amsterdammers pushed PSV back and went in search of the equalizer. They did, fifteen minutes before time. After conquering the ball, the Ajax striker was allowed to walk straight into the Eindhoven penalty area. With a hard shot he managed to outsmart goalkeeper Daan, bringing the score back into balance. Just before the end of the game, Ajax even managed to score 2-3: from the edge of the penalty area, a player from the Amsterdam team fired in a free kick.

So an unnecessary defeat for PSV, which unfortunately could not hold on to a 2-0 lead and a good level in the first half. A second chance in a top match follows next week, when Hidde van Boven's team visits Feyenoord.
