FC Den Bosch started the match strongly. FC Den Bosch was fiercer in the duels which prevented PSV from getting into the match. Within 10 minutes FC Den Bosch already had two opportunities to score but they were not exploited. The first scoring opportunity for PSV came from a beautifully taken free kick that hit the crossbar. The remaining part of the first half was for FC Den Bosch but they did not manage to score.
PSV started the second half better. Via the outside players PSV was dangerous. Early in the second half this resulted in a corner kick. The FC Den Bosch defense misjudged this corner kick and Mees Kreekels was able to tap the ball in. Both teams then played with a lot of commitment without really creating chances. In the 52nd minute Quinn Chirino scored after a long rush by Aboubacar Kone. FC Den Bosch's resistance was broken. PSV created some more chances but did not score anymore.
