With bowed heads the disappointed players of PSV D1 left the field after the 1-1 draw against FC Den Bosch D1. The championship seemed lost after this unnecessary draw and the blow was hard on all players, the coaching staff and the supporters.
PSV D1 started the match strongly against the always difficult FC Den Bosch, who lost 1-0 earlier this season. Jeroen Meefout tried to outwit the FC Den Bosch goalkeeper with a 'Wimpie Jansen', but unfortunately the ball landed above the chance-less goalkeeper on the roof of the goal. In the fifth minute of the match, however, it was a hit when the strong-playing Aron ('Ari') Schnorrenberg, coming from his own half, slaloming à la Maradonna in his best days, passed four opponents and finished impeccably. We sat back and enjoyed the spring sunshine! Jeroen Meefout delivered a good corner that Rai Vloet unfortunately just headed over. Jeroen Meefout, who played very well, was a toe short to tap the ball in after a cross from Rai Vloet and a free kick from Rai Vloet seemed to end up in the goal, but unfortunately disappeared against the side of the post. FC Den Bosch D1 did not match this in the first half, but was close to scoring once after a miss in the PSV D1 defense. Fortunately for PSV the FC Den Bosch attacker aimed the ball next to the abandoned PSV goal.
In the beginning of the second half Endy Opoku Bernadina was sent away well in the depth, he beat the FC Den Bosch defense and passed the goalkeeper after which he seemed to score. Unfortunately for PSV, Endy shot the ball against the post. FC Den Bosch D1 took courage from this windfall and looked more and more to the attack. After ten minutes in the second half the PSV D1 defense lost the ball badly, which FC Den Bosch punished mercilessly (1-1). What a disappointment! Jefta Bresser immediately intervened and started playing with four strikers. PSV tried to force a breakthrough with high balls towards the strikers, but the FC Den Bosch D1 defense did not give way. Whenever there was a chance, the FC Den Bosch goalkeeper intervened well. In the fifteenth minute of the second half Rai Vloet unfortunately collided with the good FC Den Bosch goalkeeper, who unfortunately had to leave the field injured. We hope that his injury is not too bad and that he can soon defend the FC Den Bosch D1 goal again. In the remaining part of the match PSV D1 did not create any more chances. FC Den Bosch became dangerous from the counter a few times, but no more goals were scored.
Once we arrived at the canteen, we heard the good news that Lady Fortuna had fulfilled its sporting duty against Willem II by winning a 2-2 draw in Sittard.
With three games to go, PSV D1 and Willem II remain equal in the lead and MVV D1 has three more points to lose. It will be a blood-curdling end of the league, in which things can still go either way and even MVV D1 still has a chance at the title. If the final score is tied, a decider will be played, according to the KNVB.
