After the gala performance in Manchester, today it is back to business as usual, trying to get into the first eight in the league table, to compete for the championship. Out against Utrecht. Always difficult and certainly now under these circumstances. Cold, wet and a not too good field.
We started concentrated but Utrecht had the first chance but the ball hit the inside of the post and fell into Yanick's hands. Pfffff. After that we were the better team but the chances of Albert, Sam, Dirk and another Sam were not converted into the deserved lead. So rest 0-0.
After the break we want to continue but again Utrecht is the first to get dangerous and a ball that changed direction splashed onto the crossbar. We pressed but did not really push on. Maarten is also close to scoring 0-1 but his effort is too soft and the Utrecht goalkeeper can easily stop the ball. After some extra injury time, the referee whistles for the end of this bleak afternoon in which we really did sell ourselves short and should have taken the points with us. Now next week against Heerenveen we have to work hard to achieve the first goal.
