After two defeats both against Ajax and Feyenoord, our third topper was against AZ ´67. PSV started the match well and immediately put AZ under pressure in their own half. After 15 minutes a good attack by Michal Sadilek and Gody Gakpo played to Gianlucca Scamacca who shot at goal but the ball went just past. The 25th minute AZ scored the 1-0 through a PSV mistake, this was the first time AZ was dangerous on PSV's half. But PSV continued the way they started, combining well and clearly outplaying AZ.

The second half PSV started again as they had started the first half: Keeping AZ under pressure. As a result, PSV had better control of the game. The first chance came from Joel Piroe. He made it to the back line and he delivered a nice cross to Gianluca Scamacca who made it 1-1, but the linesman indicated that the ball had been behind the line. In the 50th minute with a good attack by PSV, Gody Gakpo made it 1-1 with a distance shot. PSV then went in search of the 1-2; that was rewarded in the 61 minute when Gianluca Scamacca and Leandro Fernandes set up a good attack and Leandro was able to shoot at goal. But he shot at the post after which in the rebound Joel Piroe shot the 1-2. The last 10 minutes AZ made it difficult for PSV but we stood well. AZ could not make the 2-2; compliments to PSV.
