The report
After a football-less weekend, the O15 faced Feyenoord in Rotterdam. A match between the numbers two and four. In which Feyenoord was the best ranked team of the two with 15 points from 6 games. PSV followed with 13 out of 6. To stay in the top it would be nice to take the three points in the bus to Eindhoven.
The first opportunity of the match was for PSV when, after a smooth attack over several drives, the ball ended up at Mohamed Nassoh. Unfortunately his shot was just tipped over the bar by the goalkeeper. After five minutes the home side took the lead. A free kick in the Rotterdam half was kicked into space, giving the fast outside player too much room to cross. The striker was then able to shoot in from close range. In an otherwise flat first half, Feyenoord had the most ball possession. However, little happened in front of either goal.
After tea, too, there was little to note. PSV played a little more football, but were unable to create much danger. Feyenoord took advantage of a stupid loss of ball in the 47th minute to make it 2-0. Just before that, PSV had been awarded a free kick in a nice spot after a foul on Mylian Jimenez. Mohamed Nassoh shot the ball over, however. Despite the deficit, PSV tried to score the tying goal through football. Jasper Huijzer went close when he just could not reach the ball in a scrimmage, Milan van de Riet saw his shot blocked after an indirect free kick inside the sixteen. At the other end, Aron van Lare had to intervene with two distance shots. Just before the end of the game, PSV came close to scoring an extra goal when Dyon Dorenbosch headed a cross from Jasper at the far post. But again the net was not found.
Thus, PSV lost its second top match and is (for now?) dropping out for the positions at the top. Next week another visit to Rotterdam is scheduled when Sparta hosts.
